Lots of people should become familiar with the economic concept of “sunk costs.” Humans share a cognitive bias in which we stubbornly pursue objectives only because we’ve already spent resources on it.

I’m an example. Went to law school, about halfway through knew it wasn’t for me, yet stuck around anyways. I already put in time and money, why not finish?

Not that it was necessarily the wrong decision, but a truly rational person would’ve at least considered pulling the plug.
